Are ADHD accommodations Pakistan recognised?

Yes. ADHD accommodations in Pakistan are increasingly acknowledged, although both progress and challenges coexist. Special education policies have expanded to include diverse learning needs, and some schools now integrate support for neurodevelopmental conditions into their frameworks.

Yet, awareness and availability can be inconsistent. A stigma around mental health, limited specialist training, and resource gaps in many regions still make access to formal accommodations difficult.

What is Changing in Pakistan’s Schools

Below are key areas where recognition of ADHD accommodations in Pakistan is evolving:

Educational policies and school inclusion

The government has introduced inclusive education policies and special education departments, especially in Punjab, to broaden access to tailored support.

Growing diagnostic and therapeutic services

Some institutions and clinics now offer ADHD assessments and support through multidisciplinary teams, although these remain limited, mostly in urban areas.

National support services and outreach

Pakistan has signed and ratified international disability conventions. Non-profits and NGOs are gradually creating networked resources, but awareness of ADHD-specific support still needs boosting.

In conclusion, while formal usage is not yet widespread, educational policies and evolving national support services show positive momentum. Schools that recognise ADHD and work to include accommodations are becoming more common, although much work remains.
